Building the Thon Met Peace School–Brick by Brick

We have recently broken ground on a new school in Thon Met Village in Western Ethiopia, serving a community of war refugees, unable to return to their native countries due to ongoing conflict.

Only a few of our 38 children have had the good luck to get off the waiting list to attend the only current local school. Instead of hoping for our other children to be invited to school, we decided to build our own. After all, how else can we prepare our children for the future?

The Thon Met Peace School, although a modest 4 room structure, will have an enormous value in the lives of our children. For almost all of these children, the Peace School will be their first safe, steady educational experience. We are running a fundraiser, “Bricks for Peace,” to rally 10,000 individuals to contribute $10 to reach our target of $100,000. This will help us build the ground floor of the Thon Met Peace School in Ethiopia, providing education and vital resources for South Sudanese refugees and enabling them to create a self-sufficient future.
