“A good head and good heart are always a formidable combination. But when you add to that a literate tongue or pen, then you have something very special.”
We have recently broken ground on a new school in Thon Met Village in Western Ethiopia, serving a community of war refugees, unable to return to their native countries due to ongoing conflict.
Only a few of our 38 children have had the good luck to get off the waiting list to attend the only current local school. Instead of hoping for our other children to be invited to school, we decided to build our own. After all, how else can we prepare our children for the future?
The Thon Met Peace School, although a modest 4 room structure, will have an enormous value in the lives of our children. For almost all of these children, the Peace School will be their first safe, steady educational experience. The building itself will be comprised of 600 concrete bricks-at a cost of $10 per brick.
Will you buy a brick for Peace?
A self-sustaining village with shelter, education, healthcare and hope for South Sudanese refugee families.
